You will report directly to and work closely with the Technical Manager and you will work closely with the sales team and manufacturing team within the manufacturing group. Responsible for: -
• The design of special materials handling projects for the heavy engineering sector within the UK and abroad.
• Planning and supervising your own project work and take designs from conception through to the issue of detailed manufacturing drawings to the manufacturing department. Will need to be able to liaise with the manufacturing department and/or site teams during the manufacturing/installation of the equipment to give technical advice should any problem occur.
• You will be able to use AutoCAD to produce design and manufacturing drawings.
What the company is looking for in the successful candidate:
• Have at least a HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience of the design of heavy equipment and special purpose machinery would be of assistance
• Be able to use AutoCAD and other standard computer software packages (Word, Excel, email etc).
• Be able to use MathCAD to carry out design calculations (not essential).
• Have a general understanding of basic electrical design principles (not essential).
